programs ask what to use to open
Not sure how to say this other than when I click a program on my desktop, it comes up with options on what to use to open that program. Internet Explorer is about the only thing that works. We recently experienced a power outage in our neighborhood and this is when it happened.
System Restore does the same thing. BTW, I used my UBCD and restored to four days before this happened but that didn't help either.
Any quick fixes to get all of my apps working?

That batch file will actual restore the Microsoft defaults for you, not just the most common ones.
Did you say about "EXE Can't run directly". Use tuneup utilities 2011 to fix the problem
bafore fix temporarily, run program with cmd, if it can't works reinstall your windows.

P.S. I'm sure the other 2 posters had solutions as well, but not as fast as this one.
