Vista Internet Security 2012 removal

My computer is infected by Vista Internet Security 2012. I've downloaded an antivirus software but I can't run executable files because the infection launches first instead of the .exe file I'm trying to run.
How can I fix the Windows registry to make sure that the applications (.exe files) I select run properly?
Thank you for your help

This is not an easy beast to slay, you could also try finding [Admin Edit - ] or try combofix from the bleeping computer website. Only use combofix as a last resort if your not sure what you are doing.

Removing/repairing this variant is as simple as following the the guidelines in my article. Please give it a read and learn the procedure.

Your reference to that Boot CD will be removed by one of the EE Admin staff. It contains bootleg applications and is not allowed to be mentioned here.

Your reference to ComboFix as a "last resort" is entirely incorrect. It is one of the most used antimalware applications available - but should only be used under the guidance of a trained "Helper".

In this instance, it is unnecessary.

Thank you very much. I can't express how grateful I am.
I've killed the virus by following your guidelines.

That is really great to hear!
Glad it worked for you.
I apologise for the reference to the cd, it wont happen again, just a brain blip, as for combofix i realise it is a god send but as they say at bleeping computer it is incredibly powerful and sometimes somethings can go awry.
@younghv not a problem, just trying not to make things worse. Thank you for the guidance about the cd.
