Have to

I have to replace 3 prong plug on power cable going to wall outlet.  After stripping away rubber I have purple, blue and green/yellow wires exposed.  How do I wire plug?
Thanks in advance!

Green yellow is earth or ground.
Brown is live.
Blue is neutral.

Looking at the socket, the live connection is on your right.
The earth is at the bottom.

I'm assuming that the purple conductor is actually brown, or should be.

As long as you get the green/yellow one correct, it's not a big deal if the other two are transposed from a working point of view, but in the event of a fault it's potentially hazardous.
I should have said, the earth is at the bottom or the top, depending on the shape of the plug. Too late to alter my comment.  Because layouts vary from country to country, it would be safest if you post a photo. 😊

All answers helped!  Only reason  I couldn't replace cord as i was on my way to work and noticed fraying .

On the color codings, I had never come across laptop power cord wires w purple and an almost interior avacado green solid colored wires.

Thanks all for such quick responses!

Paul, for future reference, if more than one answer helps, you should spread the points around.

:)
Thanks for the update and hopefully now you a new cord.
