Dear Group,
Below is a copy of what I posted in the MS Private Newsgroup and it was
suggested I also post it here. Please advise, Alex

"Running SBS 2003 w/sp1
I've been researching how to receive faxes from the SBS fax manager in a PDF
format instead of the TIFF format and have not found any supporting
documentation. The default TIFF format doesn't support my clients business
application so the only work around has been to receive faxes on a basic fax
machine and scan to email as a PDF file so the documents can then be
inserted into the business application. The sending of faxes has working out
fine.

Please provide any links that could help with how to resolve this tedious
work-around.

Thank you,
Alex

Hi Alex,
Thanks for posting here.

From the description, I understand that you want to receive incoming faxes
as .pdf format rather than .tiff. TIF is a by design image format for the
fax service. I am afraid it cannot be changed. You may consider coding an
application or use a third party application to convert the .tiff file to
PDF format.

After searched the internet, I found the following applications for your
reference:

TIF to PDF Converter - TIF to PDF

You will not be able to do this natively
It will require a 3rd party product

If anyone reading this article is interested, you'll appreciate this is a difficult problem to solve. Our company provides a means for people to convert Faxes received by Small Business Server (SBS) and Microsoft Server generally for that matter, from TIF to PDF.

Essentially it involves: Routing the fax to a dedicated email address provided by our service at which point our system then converts the TIF file to a PDF and forwards it back to one or more specified email addresses for you. If you're interested, please contact me at tif2pdf_at_rgbsolutions.net
