Cannot reinstall Windows 2012 IIS 8.5 Web Server receive errors and always asks for a restart

In an attempt to clear up a 500.19 permission error on the server I was advised to remove an reinstall the IIS Server http://rdsrc.us/OB7OGl .

Removal was fine and easy. Now I can't REINSTALL it. Either from the Server Manager options or the Web Platform Installer.

Attached are the errors I get from the Server Manager Install attempt and the saved install XML as well. Yes, I've rebooted the server as instructed and nothing shows up as installed, even telling to "reboot as needed option" it doesn't reboot just goes to this point failed.

There's alot of data on the box I'd rather not have to reinstall the OS for 1 app.

So apollo2.netwrx1.com has been restarted since the IIS service was uninstalled? The feature installation is failing because of a pending reboot, from what I gather from the screenshots.

That's what its saying yes bit its been restarted multiple times. After uninstall, patch application, multiple reinstall attempts, software installs, etc. Yes its had many restarts.
I read the earlier comments on the other thread.

My first suggestion would be to just install IIS and not the other components like .net 3.5 etc.

Just try and install IIS first and we will take it from there.

Do capture the screen shot of every screen if you please. Let's see if we can prevent formatting the server.
Before you get too far, I'd review the log files at %SystemDrive%\inetpub\logs\LogFiles in order to see if there's an indication as to what is going on - might save you a lot of stress/trouble.

Feel free to post snippets so we can help review.
And the error logs as well.
I'm not seeing any error logs or logs at all dated for today in that location or any error logs at all.
Ok. I am feeling that there are some system/.NET files that are out of whack here.
From an elevated command-prompt, run the following:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Then re-try the IIS installation.
In process I'll post results when done. May be a few hours.
Yes sorry - I should've mentioned that it can take a while.
No problem. Have some stuff to do like feed dogs etc. just didn't want folks sitting waiting.
Thanks for the reminder!! My dogs are sitting here drooling starting at their dishes.
There are two things that I would suggest here apart from the famous "Refresh windows back to factory settings"

1. Run an AV and see if you have any virus infection.
2. Run CCleaner and clean / fix the registry

Just remember if you do decide to refresh windows back to factory settings you will loose all the applications. Your data will remain safe but you must install all the applications again.

I would say stick to running an AV and then CCleaner or any other tool to fix registry, then a restart and then another attempt of installing IIS.
For the record, the DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth is not a factory refresh.
Got done and reran the install. failed as shown below. Same options as earlier attempt.
Will try the CCleaner reg fix here now that will take time and I'll reboot and reattempt install and repost results. AV Scan that ran over night on every file was clean.

Ok. Having exhausted all of the above, you're likely going to need to uninstall the Windows Process Activation service prior to running the IIS feature install.

Here is a previous thread regarding this issue.

https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/28368417/Windows-Process-Activation-Service-IIS.html

Edit: This did not resolve the issue for that particular post, but it is well-documented that the WAS (Windows Process Activation) service interferes with IIS re-installation.)
OK Ran registry fix in CC Cleaner (yes I kept a backup). Failed as before.
See Attached. Removed the Windows Process Activation service and reinstalled IIS.

Successfull!!!

Now what other options should I be adding to the for a full featured web server and do I need to reinstall WPA Service when I'm done?
