More bioI recall many years ago at school when the electronic abacus arrived, I started a course in Computer studies and hated the blasted things, especially after dropping all the punched cards for my project - I learned about numbering them by hand from that!
I then joined the military where I literally tossed a coin to choose between three technical trades, and I picked the only one with computer skills at the core, (didn't realise it until I started technical training therein). Best thing I did though as now I really loved the experience and have pottered with computing when I could afford/access it until the Amstrad PC1512 came on the scene with it's 'affordable' computing. An open University degree later, (whilst helping to bring up our two children) gave me some credibility, (in my own eyes!).
With approx 20 years in real-time programming I started dabbling in Macro programming a few years back. I am now more active in Software quality, (yeah I know you wouldn't believe it from my code :o)).
I have generally learned by creating real applications but my imagination is limited so I hope that by assisting others with their projects that I can continue to expand my capabilities, because believe it or not I enjoy dabbling in code and VBA isn't bad, (not consistent across the apps but not bad all the same). I very much enjoy researching and learning in order to try and get close to my betters and especially enjoy trying to integrate between applications.

I am however strongly of the opinion that I will never be an expert as I can always learn something new, (Homer captures it adequately for me .. every time I learn something new, something old has to go) ... that's Simpson and not the philosopher by the way!
